Hit-and-Run Crash on West Walnut Avenue in Lompoc Injures Woman and 5-Year-Old Girl

 
LOMPOC, CA (September 27, 2023) – A woman and a child were injured in a hit-and-run crash on West Walnut Avenue in Lompoc Friday evening on September 22.
 
According to the Lompoc Police Department, the woman and a 5-year-old girl were crossing the street near the 400 block of West Walnut Street when they were hit by a black Jeep around 7:11 p.m.
 
After striking them, the Jeep took off.
 
A witness flagged down another driver, telling them to follow the Jeep. That person was also able to provide officers with the Jeep’s license plate.

Police later found the vehicle and arrested the driver, 64-year-old Rafael Rodriguez, for felony hit and run.

The woman and the child were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation is underway.
