Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle along Highway 101 in Santa Maria

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (September 25, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 101 in Santa Maria late Friday evening on September 22.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. just south of Can Canyon Road, north of Los Alamos. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in unclear circumstances.
 
Fire officials pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The victim was not yet identified.
 
Highway 101 in the area was closed after the crash while crews cleared the wreckage.
 
No other information available at this time. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
