Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Big Rig on 101 Freeway in Echo Park

 
ECHO PARK, CA (August 9, 2023) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on 101 Freeway in the Echo Park area early Tuesday morning on August 8.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:58 a.m. near Alvarado Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman apparently had some sort of car trouble and stopped on the freeway to check the problem.
 
For unknown reasons, she walked into traffic lanes when a big rig struck her. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The name, age and city of residence of the victim were not immediately available.
 
It is unclear if the driver of the big rig stayed after the crash. An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
