Napa Woman Dies after ATV Rolls onto Her on Young Creek Road in Mendocino County

 
MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA (July 6, 2023) – Maureen Gagne was killed in an ATV accident in Mendocino County Saturday afternoon on July 1.
 
According to the CHP, Gagne was driving a 2013 Polaris Ranger side-by-side ATV with her 33-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old relative around 4:35 p.m. on a private trail in the McNab Ranch area.
 
When the Polaris began to tip to the left on Young Creek Road, Gagne got out of the vehicle and tried to stop it from tumbling. However, the ATV fell on top of her, trapping her under its weight.
 
Family members in the area rushed to help Gagne, pulling her out from under the ATV and calling for help.
 
Emergency crews arrived to render aid, but Gagne succumbed to her injuries as they were transporting her to a helicopter.
 
Gagne was a 54-year-old Napa resident, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Unit.
Neither of the passengers were injured.
 
The CHP is still investigating the accident. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
