Child Suffers Major Injuries after Hit by Truck while Riding Off-Road Vehicle near Gale Avenue in Kings County

 
KINGS COUNTY, CA (June 20, 2023) – A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized in an off-road vehicle crash near Gale Avenue and 28th Avenue in Kings County on Friday night.
 
The crash happened around 7:00 p.m. on June 16, just north of the Avenal Cutoff Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the boy was riding the off-road vehicle when he crossed Gale Avenue in front of a Chevrolet truck.
 
The driver of the truck hit the brakes, but was unable to stop in time.
 
There was an obstruction that prevented both the child and driver from seeing each other, CHP officials said.
 
As a result of the crash, the boy suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Valley Children’s Hospital in an unknown condition.
 
The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
CHP officials said drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
