Sara Wheaton Dies in Bike Crash at El Toro Road at Normandale Drive

 
LAKE FOREST, CA (June 16, 2023) — Sara Wheaton died in a bicycle accident at El Toro Road at Normandale Drive Sunday morning.
 
According to a report, the fatal bike crash happened around 8:00 a.m. in Lake Forest.
 
Around 7:55 a.m., a woman, described as a mother of three, was riding her bike when a driver in a black pickup lost control for unknown reasons. The pickup reportedly jumped a curb and struck a pole before crossing the intersection and hitting the female bicyclist, who flew about 20 feet from the point of impact. Subsequently, the pickup truck traveled to the opposite light pole.
 
The unidentified woman — Sara Wheaton — suffered fatal injuries in the accident. Her daughter, Elise Wheaton, described the incident on her Facebook.
 
Traffic investigators did not identify the factors leading to the crash or if the driver reported any injuries, but speed might have played a role in the crash that occurred in a 55-miles-per-hour zone.
