Car Slams into Sushi Restaurant on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City

 
STUDIO CITY, CA (May 23, 2023) — A car crashed into a sushi restaurant on Ventura Boulevard near Carpenter Avenue Monday.
 
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews responded to 11820 W. Ventura Blvd. at 1:35 p.m. Monday. Upon arriving, Los Angeles Fire officials found a white vehicle that had crashed into Akira Sushi.
 
A surveillance camera showed smoke billowing out of the passenger side door following the impact. A person then climbs out of the vehicle and flees the scene.
 
Authorities responded to the crash to learn that the motorist was traveling westbound on Ventura Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crashed into the sushi restaurant. Officials found not the driver, but a dog inside the vehicle.
 
LAFD Urban Search and Rescue specialists arrived to assist with the removal of the vehicle. At this time, building and safety officials are inspecting the structural integrity of the building. Fortunately, only one person was inside since the restaurant was closed, but no one reported injuries.
