Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle in Elk Grove Leaves 18-Year-Old Woman Dead

 
ELK GROVE, CA (May 7, 2023) – Demetrianna Duncan died and six other people were injured after a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Elk Grove Thursday afternoon on May 4.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. near Calvine Road and Franklin Boulevard. According to the Elk Grove Police Department, an officer spotted a vehicle that had been reported as stolen traveling in heavy traffic. Before the officer could activate his light, the car took off. The officer did not pursue the vehicle.
 
Eventually, after speeding down the road, the stolen vehicle crashed into a pickup truck.
 
Fire crews extricated seven people from the two vehicles. All of them were taken to hospitals, where Duncan was pronounced dead. She was 18 years old.
 
A man and two juvenile passengers in the stolen vehicle were in critical condition.
 
Two occupants of the other vehicle were also in critical condition. An additional passenger in that vehicle suffered moderate injuries.
 
Police said Duncan was riding in the stolen vehicle.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
