2 Officers Hurt in Police Chase Crash on Kearny Mesa Road in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 4, 2023) — Two officers reported injuries in a police chase accident on Kearny Mesa Road near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
 
According to San Diego Police, the chase happened Wednesday morning when officers tried to pursue a driver of a Mercedes-Benz who ran a red traffic light in the La Mesa area. The driver subsequently entered Highway 125 in the wrong direction and sped through Lemon Grove and Allied Gardens.
 
When the driver reached the 5400 block of Kearney Mesa Road, the driver rammed into a police cruiser with two San Diego Police Department officers inside. Meanwhile, the Mercedes came to a stop. Although the officers struggled with the suspect, they were able to arrest him. Police also arrested the driver’s female passenger.
 
Following the accident, emergency personnel transported the two officers to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
