76-Year-Old Woman Dies after Crash with Another Car on Highway 101 in Willits

 
WILLITS, CA (March 26, 2023) – Wendy Marcus was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Willits Wednesday afternoon on March 22.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:00 p.m. on Highway 101 near the Ridgewood weigh station. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 70-year-old Willits man was driving a silver Jeep southbound when he lost control. He then veered into the northbound lanes directly into the path of a silver Hyundai, driven by Marcus.
 
As a result, Marcus suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was 76-year-old from Arcata, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.
 
Both the Jeep’s driver and the Hyundai’s 74-year-old passenger were taken to Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits with major injuries. A 39-year-old Willits man, who was the Jeep’s passenger, was also hospitalized for minor injuries.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
