Jose Tovar and Ali Kakavand Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 29 near Ehlers Lane

 
HELENA, CA (February 16, 2023) — 75-year-old Jose Tovar and 53-year-old Ali Kakavand were injured in a crash on Tuesday, February 14.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 6:10 a.m. on Highway 29 near Ehlers Lane.
 
A 2020 Toyota C-HR driven by Kakavand in the northbound lane drifted onto the east shoulder. Then it hit a barrier and crossed the center line. After that, it went into the path of a southbound 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by Tovar.
 
American Medical Response rushed both drivers to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center.
Tovar, a resident of Calistoga, suffered major injuries. At the same time, Kakavand, a St. Helena man, had moderate injuries.
 
Authorities closed Highway 29 for around an hour after the incident.
