Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Jackson Avenue On-Ramp in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (February 7, 2023) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on the Jackson Avenue on-ramp to the 680 Freeway.
 
According to the San Jose police department, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 7:00 a.m. Monday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver heading northbound on Jackson Avenue attempted a left turn onto the 680 Freeway south on-ramp. However, the woman’s 2011 Toyota sedan struck the male pedestrian in the crosswalk.
 
The man suffered major injuries and was brought to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after. Officials have withheld his name pending notification of his family members.
 
As for the driver, she stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators. Officers do not believe impairment played a factor, but an ongoing investigation should confirm any unclear details.
