Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Car on Walker Street at Papst Avenue

 
ORLAND, CA (January 15, 2023) – Gustabo Ramirez died in a motorcycle accident in Orland Thursday evening on January 12.
 
The accident happened around 7:43 p.m. on Walker Street at Papst Avenue. According to the Orland Police Department, officers observed a 2015 Yamaha FZ07 motorcycle traveling eastbound on Walker Street through the intersection of 6th Street perform a wheelie.
 
The officer attempted to catch up to the motorcycle with lights and sirens. Ramirez failed to yield to the officer and continued eastbound on Walker Street at a high rate of speed while passing other vehicles. He failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of East Walker Street and Papst Avenue.
 
The motorcycle collided with a red Subaru that had entered the intersection. It then collided with a white Toyota stopped in the westbound lane of East Walker Street.
 
Ramirez was thrown from the motorcycle during the crash. He died at the scene. He was 20 years old from Chico.
 
At this time, an investigation is underway.
