Police Arrest Driver for DUI when Car Lands Upside Down after Plummeting into Fullerton Canal at Union and Pomona Avenues

 
FULLERTON, CA (December 21, 2022) – A woman was arrested after a DUI crash at Union Avenue and Pomona Avenue in Fullerton early Saturday morning.
 
The crash happened around 2:00 a.m. on December 17. According to the Fullerton Police Department, a 2013 Dodge Dart carrying two women had landed upside down after crashing through a wall and flying into a canal.
 
Responding emergency crews found the vehicle overturned in the flood control channel. They had to extricate the driver and lift her from the canal on a board stretcher.
 
The passenger was able to climb out of the canal on a ladder and declined transport to a hospital.
 
The 23-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Police later arrested her for DUI charges.
 
An investigation into this crash is underway.
