Twins and Brother from Carmel Valley Die with Mother after Tesla Crashes Head-On with Big Rig in Hollister

 
HOLLISTER, CA (August 15, 2022) – Three siblings – Lucy Biakanja, Leigh Biakanja and Ben Biakanja – died along with their mother after a head-on accident in Hollister on Sunday evening, August 14.
 
The accident happened around 8:05 p.m. just west of Fairview Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2014 Tesla carrying four people was traveling east on the highway when it veered into oncoming traffic. It then collided head-on with a 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
 
As a result, all four people in the Tesla died at the scene.
 
Twin sisters Lucy and Leigh were in 8th grade, and Ben was a 6th grader and all of them attended Carmel Middle School. Their mother was 55 years old.
 
The driver of the big rig, a 39-year-old Madera woman, was transported to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
