Fans and supporters were overjoyed on Monday, January 16th, as actor-host Vhong Navarro made his comeback to the popular noontime variety show “It’s Showtime.” Vhong had been absent from the show since September 2022, when a Taguig court ordered his arrest for a rape case filed by model Deniece Cornejo in 2014. However, in December 2022, he was granted bail by a judge who ruled that the evidence presented by the prosecution was not strong enough to justify his continued detention.
The official It’s Showtime Twitter Account welcomed Vhong back with a heartfelt message: “Ibang klase ang saya kapag may mga kaibigan at pamilya na naghihintay sayo. Welcome back sa iyong tahanan Kuys Vhong,” The post was accompanied by photos of Vhong with other It’s Showtime hosts.
Comedian Vice Ganda, a long-time friend and co-host of Vhong, led the cheers for his return, saying:
“I’m sure that just like us, his friends, you guys also miss him a lot. That’s why, for everyone who loves him, let’s be together in welcoming him back.… We’ll finally be with him again.”
A tearful Vhong was then seen on stage, before being embraced by his fellow hosts. “Welcome back! We love you, Vhong,” they said. Vice had hinted about Vhong’s return on the show’s January 13th episode.
It is clear that Vhong’s fans and colleagues in the show are thrilled to have him back and look forward to seeing him spread laughter and good vibes to madlang people.
