Where Is Christopher Duntsch Now?

Christopher Duntsch, notorious as “Dr. Death,” currently resides in the O.B. Ellis Unit, a part of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Huntsville, Texas.

His incarceration stems from a series of serious criminal charges.

In July 2015, about a year and a half after revoking his medical license, Duntsch was arrested in Dallas.

He confronted six felony charges for committing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, five charges for inflicting severe bodily injury through aggravated assault, and one charge for causing harm to an elderly individual.

These charges resulted from the severe harm he had caused his patients during his medical practice.

Prosecutors were determined to secure a lengthy sentence to ensure that Duntsch would never have the opportunity to practice medicine again.

For this reason, they first chose to try Duntsch for one of his most egregious cases, specifically the maiming of Mary Efurd. He remained in the Dallas County jail for almost two years until his trial in 2017.

By the time of the trial, Duntsch had become almost penniless, necessitating the appointment of a lawyer by the judge.

He is currently serving his prison sentence and will be eligible for parole in 2045 when he reaches the age of 74.
