Educational Background

After joining the Swedish Armed Forces at 19, Alexander Skarsgård left Sweden in 1996 following the end of his military service. He moved to England and studied at the Leeds Metropolitan University for six months. Although he joined the university to learn English, Alexander later admitted that he barely focused on his studies and “had a blast” instead.

Alexander considered becoming an architect during his time at the Leeds Metropolitan University. However, he later changed his mind and decided to become an actor. 

Alexander took a theater course at Marymount Manhattan College and relocated to New York City. After six months, he returned to Stockholm and made a firm decision to become an actor.

Early Career

Skarsgård auditioned for the 2001 film Zoolander when he was on vacation in the US and got cast as a mindless model in the movie. He got nominated for the Guldbagge Award in 2003 for his role in “Hundtricket – The Movie (The Dog Trick).”
