England World Cup winner, Bobby Charlton, dies at 86

England and Manchester United great Bobby Charlton has died at the age of 86, the family announced in a statement on Saturday.

Charlton was a key member of England’s victorious 1966 World Cup team and also enjoyed great success at club level with United, who became the first English club to win the European Cup in 1968.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Sir Bobby passed peacefully in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was surrounded by his family,” said a statement on behalf of the Charlton family.

Charlton’s European Cup success at United came 10 years after the Munich air disaster, which he and team manager Matt Busby survived but which claimed the lives of eight of Charlton’s team-mates.

“Manchester United are in mourning following the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, one of the greatest and most beloved players in the history of our club,” the club said in a statement.

In another story, United star, Casemiro has been ruled out of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United today.

The 30 year old picked up an ankle injury in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Venezuela at the Arena Pantanal .

The midfielder was replaced by Andre 11 minutes from time.

The 2019 Copa America winner is still in Brazil as he works his way back to full fitness.

It is uncertain at this point the duration of the injury or how long he will be out of action for.

According to manutd.com, he is expected back at Carrington next week to resume training.

Casemiro will miss United’s UEFA Champions League clash against FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford on Tuesday due to suspension.

However trio of Sergio Reguillon, Sofyan Amrabat and Rasmus Hojlund are back in action as they trained with the squad today.

Casemiro has scored one goal in eight Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

The Brazilian also has two goals in two Champions League matches this campaign.

Manchester United are 10th position on the Premier League standings with 12 points after eight matches.
