In a way, it is true. Assume that you were hungry and you ordered a delicious Butter Chicken or Gobi Manchurian for the Roti you prepared. The delivery guy took 1 hour to deliver it, though the app said "In just 26 mins".
You called the executive and he was rude while replying. Or he was abusing you being on the call. You will lose your appetite waiting for food and you will lose your temper for going through this.
You have to come down from the fourth floor to receive the food. After coming down, the executive is not picking up the call. How do you feel? Won't you lose interest in the food itself?

To find out which app is better at delivery speed, we wanted to try ordering three times from three different locations (Total 9).
We were taking these three pointers into consideration:
Ordering the same food from the same restaurant at the same time on both these apps
Placing orders from Rural, Urban and Metro cities
Monitoring the entire process from the time we ordered to the time we received the parcel
Result:
Swiggy delivered the food 9 mins faster than Zomato did.
Healthier Market Worth
Many online traders want to know which app is better: Swiggy or Zomato. So that, they can start investing.
For them, we have juxtaposed the growth and decline of these two brands.
This is the status of Zomato stocks in India. You can clearly notice the decline in the past 5 years.
On the other hand, Swiggy is not listed on the BSE or NSE so far. The CEO mentioned that soon the company will be listed and the stocks will be available.
Result:
Though Swiggy is not listed and we don't have any clue about its actual P&L, it is obvious in the Stock Market that Zomato is going through a rough phase. May be, let's call it a Draw for a fair comparison.
By the way, it may not affect the common man who orders food occasionally. Let's focus on those key items.

This is a subjective aspect: design, interface, look and feel.
Some people may like the way Swiggy has listed the restaurants and some may like how Zomato has listed.
It may not be appropriate to evaluate subjectively to find why Swiggy is better than Zomato.
So, let's look at the Logos alone.
The simplicity of Zomato (just Red and White) is clean. The detailing of Swiggy (Location Icon & the letter S) is clever.

Faster Response
The moment your food gets delayed you get frustrated. You need someone to talk to.
We have decided to try reaching out to the customer care of these two food delivery apps. Then, we found out that both the executives responded on time.
Here comes the twist. We didn't speak in English (purposefully). We wanted them to speak with us in our regional language.
However, the Swiggy people spoke in our regional language, while the Zomato executive disconnected the call saying "I will redirect the call to the respective person. You will get a call back soon."
PS: I didn't get a call until I got the food. After 20 mins, I got a call. Late call is not my issue. But they said, "Sir, can you speak in English?" Lol!
Result:
Swiggy is better than Zomato in terms of handling customers.

When we put all these things together, everything boils down to food-ordering experience. In that case, Swiggy wins the war.

In cities like Bangalore, many people live as Paying Guests (PG). They may have home food once in a month or once in 6 months. These food delivery apps are their only solace. So, the cost of the dish matters more!
If you have been to Bangalore, you may know Meghana foods, a popular chain of restaurants.
Sitting on the same bed, we ordered the same dish on these two apps from that restaurant.
Price on Swiggy including the Delivery Fee: 336 Rs
Price on Zomato including the Delivery Fee: 349 Rs

In this, Zomato wins without second thoughts. If you have these two apps, go to the Search Bar and type your favourite dish name.
Zomato will show the restaurants based on Ratings, Reviews and feedback from the customers, whereas Swiggy has other yardsticks.

A Personal Incident Helped me find why Swiggy is better than Zomato
It happened soon after the lockdown period. I came back to Bangalore, with an empty heart. Missing the work-from-home options, missing the home food and missing home itself.
I ordered some food and now I don't even remember what it is.
We may not remember the dish, but we will never forget the memories and moments a dish brings us.
In a way, it is true. I still remember the name of the delivery person: Nirmal Abhishek.
He greeted me. Wearing gloves and a mask properly. He got down from his bike, with a wide smile. He said, "This is my first order today. Hope it will fill your stomach and heart. It will not make you miss home-food or home. Have a great day, sir."
It filled my empty heart.
He might be working part-time, he might be helping his family and he might be helping others coming out of lockdown syndrome.
I tried to tip him, he refused. This moment made me find a solution to this debate: Swiggy vs Zomato.

I would like to start this with a disclaimer. This is completely a personal opinion. Many of my friends love both these apps. I rely on Swiggy and Zomato completely. They feed me. It is just a reflection of what has happened so far.

However, be assured that there is no other substitute for these two apps.
