The world’s biggest boyband BTS: Bangtan Sonyeondan is the current sensation in the music industry. They paved the way for other K-pop artists and Asian artists to be recognized worldwide. Their music has taken the world by storm in recent days, their reach is at its peak.
The boy band consists of a septet structure with 7 members in the group under Big Hit Entertainment which is now broadened as HYBE LABELS. The members are RM, Jin, Suga, J Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook. The Bts Members debuted on 13th June 2013.
They had their debut stage at M Countdown and performed their first songs We are bulletproof and No more dream. The BTS members themselves contribute to making music, writing songs, and producing them. Along with the Pdogg, Bang PD, Slow rabbit, and Supreme Boii, who play a major role in producing BTS music.
Their songs fall under many different genres, K Pop, Pop, Rock, Electronic, and dance.
Their fandom is called A.R.M.Y which stands for Adorable Representative M C for youth. They were named on July 9th, 2013. ARMY is said to be the biggest fandom in the world.
The BTS members have separate fanbase for their talents and aura. BTS has achieved many heights throughout the journey and is now there at a place that everyone looks up to.
They have won numerous awards starting from Daesang in Melon Music awards 2016, to ‘The group of the year’ awarded on 29th August 2022 at VMAs. They won the artist of the year at AMAs. And they were nominated twice at the Grammys for the best Pop duo\group. On the whole, BTS was nominated for 681 awards and has won 471 awards.
In July 2021, the BTS members were appointed as the Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture by President Moon Jae-in to help "lead the global agenda for future generations, such as sustainable growth" and "expand South Korea's diplomatic efforts and global standing" in the international community.
The BTS members have been working together for a long time and have given high-quality music as individuals and as a group. To release a whole Album consisting of not anything less than 10-12 songs in each album along with keeping up to the expectation and meeting the needs of the hungry audiences is not easy, and they have been successful in it for the past 10 years. Their first single was No More Dream. Their first album was 2 Cool 4 Skool released in 2013. The most successful album and highest-selling album of all time are Maps of the soul:7 released in 2020.
Also, BTS had made a world campaign for ‘Love Yourself’ and their 3 related albums have songs that are no less than masterpieces. It was one of the most successful campaigns ever done. My personal favorite albums are Love Yourself, Wings, and Map of the soul:7.
One more interesting thing about the members and the group is that they have unit photoshoots and music. It is very refreshing to listen to them, and fun to take a look at the behind-the-scenes.
Knowing this much about the group I think we should move on to know more about the BTS members, their achievements, positions, and their talents that have brought the band this far.
We start with the leader of the group.
1. RM- rapping
RM is his stage name, he is the main rapper and the leader of the band. His real name is Kim Namjoon. He was born on 12th September 1994, in Ilsan, South Korea. According to the international age, he is 27 years old. The boys have been making music in Korean and Japanese, but not in English until the recent hits like Dynamite, Butter, and Permission to Dance which were made after their fame started going beyond boundaries. In that case, having interaction with overseas artists while collaborating with them is quite a big deal, while RM being the leader and spokesperson of the group handled all the interviews and interaction well and helped the other BTS members as well. He also once mentioned that he learned English by watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
His well-natured behavior and leadership quality are one of the most important contributing factors to the band’s success today. Also, just last week RM has crowned the most handsome man of the year(2022).
He is a rapper, lyricist also a composer. He plays a great role in writing the lyrics of all the songs released by the group, because of his artistic knowledge and he is very articulate in conveying various feelings and emotions.
He has released many singles like; Intro: Persona, Trivia: Love, Reflection, Mono, RM, and Bicycle. All these tracks show the versatility of the artist. His rap also has a remarkable place in all the group hits given by the band. RM was once offered a chance to go solo, leaving behind but he chose to be a part of a BTS.
Personally, my favorite RM solo tracks are Bicycle and Intro: Persona. The bicycle takes you into the act of living like RM. He released Bicycle in June 2021 as a gift to ARMY in celebration of BTS’s 8th anniversary.
Achievements:
RM ranked as the 12th most preferred idol of the year for 2018 and ranked 11th in 2019.
Namjoon made history as the first Korean artist to chart on the "rock digital songs chart", coming in at number two on the list. through his collaboration on "Champions.
Intro: Persona also became the fastest comeback trailer to surpass 20 million views, and it broke records by hitting 3 million likes on YouTube in just 3 days.

1st Korean artist to top billboards emerging artists chart and many more.
He is a nature enthusiast and loves riding a bicycle and visiting art galleries. And among all the BTS members his solo album is one of the most anticipated ones.
2. JIN- Vocals
Kim Seokjin was born on 4th December 1992. ‘Jin’ is his stage name and he is the oldest member of the group. He is from Gyeonggi, South Korea. His position in the group is as sub-vocals and visuals. Yes, his visual is not a joke and his confidence in his appearance makes him the World Wide Handsome (this is his nickname). He once mentioned that he sees his visual as a cherry on the cake of his talent. His voice has a unique pitch which makes it easy for people to fall in love with.
He was studying acting and was infamously spotted on the streets by Big Hit Entertainment staff because of his visuals. Eventually ended up debuting as BTS.
His singles are all very soulful and calm. Epiphany, Yours (OST of Jirisan), Moon, Abyss, awake, It’s You (OST of Hwarang, it was sung along with another bandmate V), and tonight. His single Epiphany has a maximum fan craze.
My personal favorite is Epiphany, Yours, and Moon. Epiphany is a song that promotes self-love and how you should change the way you treat yourself. Moon explains his love for ARMY. 'Yours' connects with your soul.
Achievements:
'Yours' OST holds the most number one on iTunes by a soloist in 2021, topping 99 countries. This makes him the ‘WWH OST king’.
Epiphany becomes the 2nd solo song in BTS's discography to reach 2.2 million unique listeners on Melon.
Moon is now the longest-charting solo song from the MOTS7 album on the Top1000 Melon chart – 476 days and counting.
On July 9, Jin has become the first Korean soloist to reach 3 million likes on audio with “Abyss.” It was released on his birthday for the ARMY.
He is seen to be the cook of the group and his cooking skills are great. He has a great interest in fishing and playing video games, his way to chill is to play games the whole time. He is also known very well for his Dad Jokes.
3. SUGA – Rapping
Min Yoongi is his name and he was born on 9th March 1993. He is from Daegu, South Korea. He is the Lead rapper of the group. He is a famous music producer apart from being a member of the band. He has produced music for various artists like IU, PSY, Samsung, Halsey, Juice Wrld, and many more.
He is also a solo artist, known as AGUST D, who debuted in the year 2016. He released a mixtape called AGUST D. His solo tracks are many like Daechwita, Agust D, The Last, Interlude, So Far Away, People, Moonlight, and many more. My personal all-time favorite is Daechwita and seesaw. He also released his solo album D-2 in the year 2020.
He has produced many songs for the band and also has an active part in songwriting. As of 2022, Suga has produced 147 songs.

Suga is the 2nd Solo Male K-Pop Musician to Chart Several Songs On The Hot 100He is the third K-Pop Musician to Hit No. 1 On the Sales Chart
Also, he is the 2nd K-Pop Act To Reach The Rap Chart
Agust D is the 1st male soloist to have an album and a song reach 100 #1's on iTunes Worldwide- D2. The title track Daechwita dominated all the music platforms.

It is seen that he is a person who loves working and he takes music as his passion and also as a pleasure. Other than this he is a basketball player as well. And he is also very shy and is an introverted person, sometimes people tend to mistake him for being rude but he is one of the caring, most hard-working, and strongest members of the group. He had once written 300 letters to the fans on his birthday in the initial days of their debut. There can't be a better way to communicate your love.
4. J-hope – Rapping
J-hope is his stage name and he is the main dancer, sub rapper, and sub vocalist. J hope is a very talented artist. He started his career as a dancer and slowly groomed himself into a whole package of talent. Jung Ho Seok is his name and he was born on 18th February 1994. He is from Gwangju, South Korea.
He released his first solo mixtape Hope World in 2018. His single Chicken Noodle Soup in collaboration with the artist Becky G was one of his greatest hits. He released his solo album recently Jack in the box. ‘Arson’ and ‘More’ are my favorites from this album. His other solos like blue side, just dance are also of great hype and reach.
Him being the main dancer of the group he has a major part in the choreography and planning of the performances of the group. He was the first K-pop artist to perform at the American music festival Lollapalooza. There we around 100k fans at the festival and also millions of fans who watched the live streaming. He just set the stage on fire with his mindblowing performances. He performed songs like Dynamite, Cypher Pt2, Arson, More, Chicken noodle soup, Equal sign, and many more.
Achievements:
J-Hope as a soloist became the first member of BTS to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
He surpassed 2 million followers while only having seven solo songs available on Spotify. The songs were from his 2018 mixtape, Hope World.
J-Hope is the first Asian Act to chart a "free" solo song on the Hot 100.
J Hope becomes the first Korean solo to enter the top 100 and top 50 on Billboard 200 Chart.
He is called the sunshine of the group and also to his fans. His charming personality and his stage name go hand in hand. J hope keeps donating money to many social causes which makes him live up to his name and spread hope in the lives of mankind.
5. JIMIN- Vocals
Park Jimin is the lead vocalist and main dancer of the group. Jimin is his stage name. he was born on 13th October 1995. He is from Busan, South Korea. He is called the most caring member of the group and is also a kind-hearted person.
He always cares about everyone around him his fans, members, staff, and everyone. Also, Jimin is a very shy person with an introverted personality but this doesn’t apply when he performs on stage. He is very dedicated and a passionate cool performer on stage.
His single songs are very versatile and fall into different genres. Still, he never fails to amaze the fans with jaw-dropping performances. His singles are Promise, Serendipity, filter, and lie. All 4 are different and show different personalities of Jimin. My personal favorites are Promise and Filter.
'Promise' is a song in which Jimin’s words make you feel important and you promise him to be your priority and be happy. 'Filter' is again a different genre that showcases the hot and sassy Jimin.
Achievements:
Jimin’s solo songs “Lie,” “Intro: Serendipity,” and “Serendipity (Full-Length Edition)” each achieved over 50 million streams on Spotify.
This makes him the first Korean artist to have three solo songs earn 50 million streams.
Jimin was ranked as the top idol for two years
Filter is also the fastest solo song to enter Gaon’s year-end and the fastest solo song to reach 100M Gaon Digital Index
Jimin was ranked 55th in Forbes China's Top 100 Global Idol List
His dance skills are on fire. He has very sharp, powerful moves and dances with grace always. His vocal is one of my favorites with a high pitch and is very melodious.
6. V- Vocals
V aka Kim Taehyung is the second youngest member of the group. He was born on 30th December 1995. He is from Daegu, South Korea. He had no idea about the Big Hit auditions or becoming an idol. He accompanied his friend to the audition and gave it a shot and today is called the idol of idols in K-pop.
V is also very passionate about the music he has released his singles which have a separate fan base. His position in the group is lead dancer, sub vocalist, and visuals. He has also made an acting debut in the series Hwarang. For which he and Jin sang the OST. He was well known for his acting skills. He was ranked first for 2 consecutive years as the most handsome man (2019-2020). He is a person said to have a unique character and thinks out of the box most of the time. Also, he was said to be very notorious during the trainee days.
He also has a very unique voice which is deep and beautiful, that makes people experience a lot of emotions. His singles are Winter bear, scenery, snow flower, Christmas tree (OST of My Beloved Summer), stigma, singularity, Inner child, and sweet night (OST of Itaewon Class).
Among all my personal favorites are Winter bear, Scenery, and Inner child. Winter bear is a complete English song that makes you feel so good totally like a lullaby. 'Inner child' is a song for the child within us.
Achievements:
V was the only second star to feature on Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building on his birthday.
Sweet Night by V still holds the record for the #1 in history as the song topped iTunes in 117 countries.
Inner Child has topped iTunes in 93 countries and surpassed 10 M streams on Spotify.
Taehyung also joined PSY as the only Korean male artist to surpass 1 million Shazams on a song after 'Christmas Tree' achieved that record
He is the first Male Korean Artist with 4 Instagram photos surpassing 3 million likes!
Also, V holds the no 1 position on YouTube for most watched top 50 Idol fancams of 2019
V has been called the 'Idol of Idols' for being the top role model chosen by 4th-generation K-pop idols and rookies
Also, there is this song called Blue and grey in the album Map of the soul:7. It was originally written by V in English for his mixtape. Due to its melody and feel, it made its way to the comeback album. Also, V has been preparing for his mixtape for a pretty good time, his solo album is also a much-awaited album by the fans, waiting to hear many more masterpieces.
7. JUNGKOOK- Vocals
Jeon Jungkook is the youngest of the group. He is the Lead dancer, Main vocalist, sub rapper, Centre of the group, and Maknae. Jungkook is his stage name. He was born on 1st September 1997. He is from Busan, South Korea. He is known as one of the most talented artist out there. He is good at everything like sports, painting, music, dance, studies, and everything.
He has his singles released which are very unique and has deep message His solo tracks are Still with you, My time, Euphoria, and Begin. His collaboration with artists is amazing like his recent collaboration with Charlie Puth – Left and Right. He also sang the song We don’t talk anymore with Charlie Puth on the stage of the MBC awards and genie music awards. He also covers many other songs originally sung by different artists which are received and loved by his fans.
Jungkook released the track My You in June 2022 as a gift to ARMY in celebration of the 10th anniversary of BTS. It was made by the comments shared by the fans on his live and social media platforms. This is special to all the ARMYs and it shows how much he values their existence.

In August 2019, Jungkook set a Billboard record. Jungkook became the longest-charting solo male K-Pop idol on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart with his song, “Euphoria.”

“My Time”, was also extremely successful in sales and on the World Digital Song Sales chart, and has even reached over 50 million streams on Spotify.

His well-built body and tattooed right arm are always hot topics to discuss. He recently had colored his tattoos which made the whole fandom go crazy. Not just that the theme for his new album is Vampire Jungkook- Me, Myself, and Jungkook, which has made a great impact on the fans who are eagerly waiting for his album.

So this ends your ride in the purple ocean, before you get off the cruise I would like to let you know that their music heals people and has healed many out there. And they as artists deserve much respect.
Right now, the group is said to be on ‘Haitus’, which is only in terms of group activities. They are currently focusing on their projects and other collaboration. They released the album Proof in June which indicated the closure of chapter 1 of their 10 years long journey. They have said the fans to look for more best versions of them in the upcoming chapters.
They have started shooting the RUN BTS again after a long break of 10 months. This has added to the fandom's happiness. Also, every day there are new updates about the BTS members' upcoming albums and schedules. The fans are eagerly waiting for the free live Busan concert on 15th October 2022, which is done to support the South Korean city’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo. Also, it is announced that the BTS members have teamed with Hyundai and will release the anthem for FIFA world cup 2022, in the second half of the year.
So yes! This is how successful they are. And with this, the cruise finally meets the port. The purple ocean is always ready to welcome you.
