The Kashmir Files Movie Review

More than a half-million Kashmiri Hindus were forced from their homes by roving Islamic gangs thirty-one years ago, in 1990, in the Kashmiri Valley. Heinous killings and rapes took place as a result of the event. Several people, including a judge from the Srinagar High Court, were shot in broad daylight.

While the then-chief minister of Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, completely abdicated his responsibilities, or should one say colluded with the gangs, 500,000 Kashmiri Hindus were left with no alternative but to evacuate or remain in their homes and die.

Many died in deplorable camps, and the most survived with pitifully minimal assistance from the Indian government, carrying on their lives in the hope of one day returning to their ancestral homelands, which had survived six earlier genocides.

The fact that India has no responsibility for bringing them back despite the passage of 31 years and the removal of laws that were significant contributors to the genocide is due to a lack of willpower to confront the realities of Islamist fundamentalism and the courage to demolish terror infrastructure.

More troubling is that, even after 31 years, their story is rarely discussed openly in India, yet any inconsequential occurrence, particularly one that represents Hindus adversely, becomes the subject of a high-volume campaign.

That is something that filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi intend to change. They have accomplished something that India has not been able to accomplish in 31 years: they have presented the genuine face of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide in their film, The Kashmir Files, which is currently being screened in theatres across the United States and is available on demand.

This in itself is an accomplishment: the film’s representation of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide is both comprehensive and in-depth, while still keeping sensitive to the audience’s ability to bear it. Without extensive and painstaking research, this film would not have been possible.

However, research is only one part of the story; the ability to take that information and weave it into a story that tells the truth, nothing but the truth, in all of its aspects takes skill, and one must commend Vivek and his team on their outstanding work.

The picture has a profound effect on you, strikes a raw nerve within you, and causes you to emerge from your deep slumber. Besides Kashmiri Hindus, the film is about all oppressed societies around the world, whether they are Jews by Christian Germany or Christians in Turkey by the Islamic Ottoman empire, or native American and African religious traditions by the Christian West,

as well as the systematic destruction of Muslims and their countries by the Western deep state today. However, it is most importantly the story of Hindu India, one of the world’s most brutalized societies by fundamentalist Abrahamic religions,

where an estimated 80 million people died; it is the story of how a small community maintained its culture in the face of enormous adversity; it is the story of Kashmir, the birthplace of the most profound Hindu thought, which originated in Kashmir and continues to be a beacon of hope for all humanity; and it is the story of the spineless Indian government.

What happens when a civilization is hesitant to stand united and fight the violent savages and instead tries to soothe and negotiate with those who have only your annihilation in mind is the story of what happens.

From Prithviraj Chauhan, who released Mohammed Ghori and was later assassinated at the first opportunity, to the current BJP leadership, including Ram Madhav, who boasted during a recent New Jersey program that the Centre could attract millions of visitors to Kashmir while only a few Hindus were able to live without fear, this is the story of Hindu rulers who have never learned their lesson.

It depicts the story of our political leaders’ efforts to accommodate minorities and pander to their interests. It is also the story of our warriors who have given their lives in the course of eradicating terrorists, but of a lack of courage (on the part of the administration, the court, and others) in confronting the root causes of terrorist activity.

In the most advanced society, which is on the point of extinction, it is a never-ending narrative of death and destruction. Either it prepares to survive or it prepares to die in the not-too-distant future, depending on how it views the situation.

The Kashmir Files is a film that everyone should watch at least once in their lives. It serves as a reminder of the dangers that the Indian civilisation is facing, as well as the fact that it is past time for us to act more definitely and aggressively in order to deal with the problems that it is — and has been — confronting.

The Kashmir Files News

Both “disturbing” and “uncomfortable” are terms that come to mind when thinking about the cinematic experience provided by Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files. As part of his film, the director introduces a bleak episode in Kashmir’s history: the evacuation of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the height of the state’s terrorism.

The story of Exodus is told in such a way that you will agree, disagree, dislike, connect, and feel outraged with it at various moments; to be fair, the film maintains your interest throughout the entire movie. According to his grandfather, Pushkar Nath, Krishna Pandit (Darshan Kumar), a “JNU student,” believes his parents were killed in an accident (Anupam Kher).

The reality, on the other hand, is far more tragic. He finds himself caught between two conflicting accounts of the Kashmiri Pandit migration of 1990. Pallavi Joshi, a pro-Azaadi JNU lecturer who is garnering a lot of support on campus for her “Kashmir cause,” represents one side of the debate.

Nath, on the other hand, has been battling for justice for over 30 years, which the professor claims are a hoax and that he is a fraud. Krishna travels to Kashmir after Pushkar Nath’s death in order to carry out his final desires, and he comes face to face with four of Nath’s acquaintances:

a journalist, a doctor, a former police officer, and a retired civil official (all of whom are related to Nath). They are taken aback when they discover that Krishna was completely uninformed of the circumstances surrounding his father’s death.

Krishna then starts on a journey to The Kashmir Files in order to discover the truth. During one of many terrifying moments, Krishna’s father is slain by a local terrorist while hiding inside a jar of rice, which is one of many harrowing scenes.

This compels his mother to consume the blood-soaked rice from the same jar as her son did. Furthermore, according to several media sources, the storyline is loosely based on the assassination of B.K. Ganjoo, an engineer who was slain in the valley in 1990.

Mingling facts with fiction

However, what many consider to be a “well-researched” story begins to distort the truth from this point on in the story. The video, nicknamed “the Truth of Kashmir” by its director, Vivek Agnihotri, properly shows the infamous Nadimarg massacre of 2003, in which 24 Kashmiri Pandits were supposedly murdered.

However, he fails to recognize that Mrs Ganjoo was also slain at the same time as Mr Ganjoo. The assassination of four Indian Air Force officers by members of the JKLF (Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front) on January 19, 1990, as well as their subsequent escape, are both featured. One terrorist is depicted in the film, who is inspired by the JKLF’s Yasin Malik and Farooq Ahmed Dar to carry out his attacks (also known as Bitta Karate).

Bitta, played by Chinmay Mandlekar, admitted to the murder of 20 Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s, which he did in his home. Despite this, Agnihotri’s “truth” discloses his involvement in the Nadimarg massacre, which included another terrorist named Zia Mustafa from an entirely different terrorist organization than the one in which he was involved.

‘Death blow’ to credibility

Nothing could be said more gently than that the Kashmir Files are attempting to tarnish JNU’s reputation by portraying it as an anti-national, terrorist-friendly institution. Vivek Agnihotri is successful in bringing up Article 370 in order to establish a connection between it and the exodus.

The video comes dangerously close to accusing it of being one of the factors that led to the migration of Kashmiri Pandits. The Kashmir Files further accuse Farooq Abdullah and the Rajiv Gandhi-led government in New Delhi of being complicit in the violence.

Although Prime Minister V.P. Singh was in office at the time of the evacuation, the blame for the incident has been placed largely on Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. A similar portrayal is given in which terrorists attempt to persuade Krishna to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

When it comes to certain events, such as the claim that only Kashmiri Hindus were killed in 1990, the portrayal is callous, despite the fact that persons of all religious backgrounds suffered during the height of terrorism in Kashmir.

At one point in the film, Islamophobia is effectively promoted as a legitimate cause. A voice from the audience said, “Ye Poori Qaum Hee Aisi Hai,” during the closing scene showing the Nadimarg Massacre, in which Krishna’s mother and younger brother are slain.

I thought it was a joke at the time (This entire race is the same). In revealing the truth and the long-overdue story of Kashmiri Pandits, the film The Kashmir Files defames the Kashmir National Unity (JNU), accuses selective leaders of being responsible for the unrest in the valley,

and fails to mention the remaining years of the late 1980s and early 1990s period of unrest in Kashmir. While the image had the potential to be a great monument to the cause, Agnihotri’s personal notions ultimately destroyed the picture and undermined its credibility.
