Gujarati families lost 10 individuals, including a 13-year-old, to heart attacks while Playing Garba in 24 hours during Navratri. The 13-year-old victim was from Dabhoi, Baroda, while the others were teenagers and middle-aged people. Sadly, a 24-year-old Garba aficionado from Ahmedabad collapsed and died after losing consciousness. A 17-year-old kid died of a sudden cardiac arrest while playing Garba in Kapadvanj, Kheda district.

Dr. Aayush Patel, MD Medicine, described the incident: “Veer Shah, 17, was playing Garba at the Kapadvanj Garba ground when he felt dizzy and unresponsive. A team of volunteers promptly began CPR on him. He had no pulse when we checked. A reaction and respiration were absent. Three rounds of CPR were given. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. However, the hospital ruled him dead.”

Extreme Dances: Breakdancing and extreme aerobic dancing are physically demanding. If you're not used to it, you may overdo it. Maintain your fitness and progressively increase your stamina.

Avoid Garba if you have high blood pressure or diabetes.

The organizers of commercial ‘Garba’ events in towns and cities have been instructed to bring an ambulance and medical team to the event to help participants in emergencies.

The Gujarat government directive did not outline penalties for noncompliance, but the minister said organisers would be allowed after they pledged compliance. State health minister Rushikesh Patel said the regulation was meant to ensure participants received prompt treatment for emergencies like blood pressure or snake bites.

Patel said physicians and other staff at government hospitals and health centers near garba sites must work until midnight during Navratri, citing the circular. It advised against playing garba for anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart problems.

The Ahmedabad chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) encouraged persons over 40 with a family history of heart disease to undergo a checkup before garba dancing.
