Sharanya Mudundi’s singing has won national and international awards. She competed in English Olympiads, marathons, and karate. The TOI #Unstoppable21 panel selected the Visakhapatnam girl as an under-21 Indian.

Sharanya Mudundi’s parents noticed her singing talent at age 7. Visakhapatnam-based vocalist started singing Carnatic music for modest audiences but went international. Years later, the 16-year-old sings well. She received India’s highest civilian award for exceptional under-18s, the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, in art and culture, in 2020. President Ram Nath Kovind gave her this award.

She performed for senior dignitaries at the Bal Puraskar closing ceremony. Her voice captivated audiences worldwide, including Little Model Earth 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa and Little Miss Grand Sea Intercontinental in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Sharanya, a Class 11 student, has medals in karate, marathons, and Olympiads. She has a brown belt and won gold and silver in international karate events.
Her childhood passion for running led to multiple marathons. She won the 2016 and 2017 international English Olympiads and won gold and silver medals in national Olympiads from 2015 to 2022.

Sharanya paints and plays guitar. Her marathons support girl child education, cancer prevention, and environmental concerns. She represents national and international organizations as a goodwill ambassador.
The GCP-2022 prize for art and culture (voice Carnatic music) went to her. Shara nya made the GCP top 100 from thousands of candidates. In Dubai, Nobel laureate in physiology or medicine Sir Richard J Roberts presented her with the honor.

She said the 2020 invitation to Narendra Modi’s home was her highlight. I met the Prime Minister, a dream come true. Sharanya was overjoyed when Modi ji gave me a book and a watch with my name and his autograph.

Sharanya manages school and extracurriculars with her parents. My mom helps me prioritize and is academically supportive. Time management and parental support helped me achieve my goals.”

While M Suryanarayana Raju and Swati were on cloud nine, Union minister for women and child development Smriti Irani proclaimed that “Sharanya has become the nation’s daughter”.

“We only developed her innate potential. In addition to her talent, she has worked hard to understand Carnatic music’s ragas and kritis,” stated M Suryanarayana Raju.

Sharanya became the first Indian girl to win Little Miss and Mister United World 2018 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Sharanya won the worldwide child jury award at Little Model Earth-2019, a six-day extravaganza that showcased global talent. London’s Youth Connect Organization named her Youth Icon 2021. She also entered the India and International Book of Records.

Her MBA-trained mother M Swati left her affluent profession to raise her kid. “While most kids her age were playing with toys, Sharanya began making an impact on Carnatic music at seven. Structured music education under Leepika Reddy helped her grow. She wants an MBA. She would continue her musical career, said Swati.
