IIT-Delhi dropout, Azhar Iqbal, Deepit Purkayastha, and Anunay Arunav created Inshorts as a Facebook page and grew it to its current size. Last month, OYO cofounder and CEO Ritesh Agarwal and Zomato cofounder and CEO Deepinder Goyal joined the famous TV show, Shark Tank India.

Peyush Bansal of Lenskart, People Group’s Anupam Mittal, Emcure’s Namita Thapar, Sugar Cosmetics’ Vineeta Singh, boAt’s Aman Gupta, and CarDekho Group’s Amit Jain will appear in Season 3.

After OYO cofounder and CEO Ritesh Agarwal and Zomato cofounder and CEO Deepinder Goyal joined the popular TV show, the latest addition follows.

Season 3 will air on Sony Entertainment Television and star Lenskart’s Peyush Bansal, People Group’s Anupam Mittal, Emcure’s Namita Thapar, Sugar Cosmetics’ Vineeta Singh, boAt’s Aman Gupta, and CarDekho Group’s Amit Jain as Sharks.

Iqbal responded to the announcement by saying he joined the show to help participants become entrepreneurs.

On Shark Tank India Season 3, I want to tell Indian youth that hunger, dedication, and focus count more than background and degree. “If you have it in you, I will help you achieve your entrepreneurial dream,” Iqubal stated.

In his 20s, the Inshorts CEO daringly dropped out of IIT Delhi to launch his company. He said the last decade was a ‘wild adventure, full of excitement’ that helped him break into social media.

“A decade later, as I enter my 30s, we are one of the largest players in our space with 1.2 crore Indians using our apps daily,” Iqbal said.

Iqbal is new to angel investing and has only invested in Quickpay, according to Tracxn. The Inshorts CEO may visit the show to increase his stakes in the Indian startup scene and get more traffic to his rapid bit news platform.

Like most sharks on the show, Inshorts loses money. The news aggregator’s FY22 consolidated net loss was $31.8 Mn, up 1.7X YoY. FY22 operating revenue was $18.9 Mn, up from $13 Mn in FY21.
