Govinda, the veteran Bollywood actor was known as one of the best dancers and actors of the industry when he used to work in movies but nowadays we don’t get to see him on the big screen. Well, he does appear on reality shows but the big question is as to why he is not able to get any work in today’s time when the actors of his era are still working a lot.

The actor-action director-writer-producer Tinu Verma who is best known for playing the character of villain Gujjar Singh in the movie Mela which starred Aamir Khan and Twinkle Khanna has shed his opinion on this matter in an interview. Tinu Verma praised Govinda and said that he is the best in the industry and there was a time when he overshadowed Amitabh Bachchan in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan but he didn’t value time and now time has stopped valuing him.

Tinu Verma said, “Kaam pe nahin aata hai tab tak kaam chor, jab kaam pe aata hai, he is the best. (He is often late to the work but when he finally reaches sets, he is the best). Woh aadmi Bade Miyan Chote Miyan mein Amit ji ko bhaari pad gaya tha. He is so good, he is so talented. But, us insaan ne time ki kadar nahin ki aaj time ne uski kadar chod di. Log pair pe kulhadi maarte hain, usne gardan maar di kulhadi pe. (He overshadowed Amitabh Bachchan in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. He is so good and talented. But his lack of discipline led to his downfall.)”

Tinu Verma also narrated an incident from the movie Achanak (1998) in which Govinda worked with Manisha Koirala. Tinu Verma told that Govinda had to take a shot with Manisha which needed to be taken in the middle of the sea but that shot was not taken as Govinda failed to reach on time for four days. Tinu added that Govinda took a room in a hotel which was near to the shooting location but Govinda still failed to reach on time. The crew had to pack up after waiting for 10 hours for Govinda and when they were returning they saw huge crowd near Wilson College.

Tinu casually looked over there in order to see who is shooting and he saw Govinda dancing on a song for another movie. Tinu said, “Woh din mein teen shooting rakhta tha. Do mein pahunchta tha, ek mein nahin. Aur woh ek hum they. (He used to fix shooting schedule for three movies in a day, he used to reach on two shootings and leave one and at that time, that one shooting location was of Achanak)”

Tinu Verma concluded by saying, “Yeh fact hai. Yeh Chichi bhaiya hain. Itna talented. One of the best dancers, actors and performers, sitting at home. Kaam ki pooja nahin ki. Aaj wohi Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Chote Miyan ghar pe, Bade Miyan Kaun Banega Crorepati mein lage hain. Aaj bhi bhaag ke aate hain, bhaag ke jaate hain. Isko bolte hain. Yeh hota hai waqt ka takaza, yeh hota hai time ki respect aur yeh hota hai paise ki kadr. (It’s a fact. That’s Govinda for you. He is so talented and is one of the best actors, dancers and performers and yet, he is sitting at home. Today Chote Miyan (Govinda) is sitting at home and Bade Miyan (Amitabh Bachchan) is the busiest because he was disciplined and valued time and money.)”
