Maintaining Law and Order: 10 Arrested for Conspiring to Resurrect Banned Outfit in Jammu and Kashmir

In connection with a plot to resurrect the Hurriyat and the proscribed Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), the Jammu and Kashmir Police detained ten people.

At the Kothibagh Police Station, a case was opened under sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and section 121A of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the authorities, the individuals detained and others had plans to resurrect these organizations at the instruction of their commanders in Pakistan.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police nabbed ten people in connection with a scheme to revive the Hurriyat and the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), two banned groups.

A complaint was registered at the Kothibagh police station and focused on sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and section 121A of the Indian Penal Code.

The persons seized, along with others, were allegedly preparing to revive these organizations at the command of their superiors in Pakistan.

According to a news release from the Jammu and Kashmir police, preliminary inquiry found that the individuals detained were in contact with foreign organizations. Few of them, according to the release, belonged to organizations that support secession, such as the JKLF’s Raja Muzaffer and the Farooq Siddiqui-led Kashmir Global Council.

A meeting was held to discuss revival strategy under the guise of fabricated justification. According to preliminary inquiry, a similar preparatory meeting that was attended by the majority of them occurred on June 13 as well, the announcement said.

The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Yaseen Bhat of Nigeenbagh, Sgr, Mohammad Rafiq Pahloo from Natipora, Shams u din Rehmani frfom Lalbazar, Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat from Batengo, Sopore, Khurshid Ah Bhat from Rawalpora, Shabir Ah Dar from Badamwari Sopore, Sajad Hussain Gul from Panthachowk, Srinagar, Firdous Ah Shah from Abiguzar, Srinagar, Parray Hassan Firdous from Lawaypora, Srinagar, and Sohail Ahmad Mir from Peerbagh, Budgam). According to the police, the matter was under investigation and more arrests were anticipated.
