Rainfall in Kashmir Temporarily Pauses Amarnath Yatra

According to officials on Friday, the Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily halted due to the terrible weather that has been lashing various areas of Kashmir. In a report released by the news agency PTI, it was stated that the yatra had been suspended along both the Baltal and the Pahalgam routes.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Ramban) Mohita Sharma stated, “The yatra has been suspended and no pilgrim is being permitted to walk towards the holy cave shrine this morning. In the district’s Chanderkote neighbourhood, the yatra has been suspended.

The Pahalgam belt’s bad weather has forced the suspension of the yatra. The trip had to be temporarily suspended due to heavy rains that began early on Friday, Sharma noted.

The base camps of Baltal and Nunwan have stopped the pilgrims. The yatra will resume as soon as the weather in Jammu and Kashmir gets better, according to PTI.

According to Jammu officials, although a group of 4,600 pilgrims heading to the Pahalgam base camp had been halted in Chanderkot, a another group of 2,410 believers heading to the Baltal camp had been given permission to continue.

On Thursday, 17,202 pilgrims paid their respects at the sacred cave sanctuary, bringing the total number of believers who have seen the natural ice lingam structure in the South Kashmir Himalayas to 84,768.

From the twin trails of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district, the 62-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,888-meter-high cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas began on July 1. On August 31, the yatra is supposed to come to an end.

Compared to the 3,65,000 pilgrims who visited the holy shrine last year, more than 3,00,000 worshippers have signed up for the Amarnath Yatra this year.
