On Monday, the Bihar BJP demanded an investigation into the awarding of a Rs. 1,600 crore Ambulance Contract to a company run by Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi’s relatives, a JD (U) Jehanabad MP. They also asked that the contract be put on hold until the investigation is complete or the Patna High Court rules on the issue.

Sushil Kumar Modi, a Rajya Sabha member and a former deputy chief minister, told The Indian Express that the situation was a blatant example of political patronage. We demand that the contract be terminated, especially because the Patna High Court had raised concerns over the disclosure of bid materials by the State Health Society of Bihar. When the case is being heard by the high court and the Supreme Court has also intervened, the state government’s argument that it should rely on the AG’s legal opinion is inadmissible.
