Here’s Why Tree Emoticons Were Used Instead Of Dot Balls In CSK vs GT Play-Off

The Indian Premier League 2023 is quite close to its end and very soon we will get the champion of the tournament. MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings has already qualified as the first finalist of the IPL 2023. In the match played yesterday at (MA Chidambaram Stadium) Chepauk Stadium, Chennai, CSK defeated Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans by 15 runs and CSK batter Ruturaj Gaikwad was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock of 60 runs (44 balls, 7 fours & 1 six).

However, this game was a little different from all the other matches that have been played in the tournament till now. If you had watched the match, then you must have noticed that instead of dot in the ticker, tree emoticon was used to signify a Dot Ball. The commentator Simon Doull spoke about this change and explained that tree emoticons represented the BCCI’s new green initiative which has been started for the purposing the saving the environment.

As per Simon Doull, the BCCI will be planting 500 trees for each dot ball that will be bowled in the IPL 2023 playoffs and this initiative by the board has been hailed by many online users:

Great initiative BCCI! Keep it up!
