From Engineer to EV Entrepreneur: Journey of Kyte Energy’s Founder Yash Arora

Yash Arora, a Nashik local, went home after leaving his engineering career in the UK to found Kyte Energy, an EV firm that has released the Magnum Pro series of e-scooters with two batteries and a battery range of up to 160 km.

In late October 2022, Kyte Energy, a Nashik-based electric mobility business, will release the latest version of its Magnum electric scooter line. Dubbed the Magnum Pro, it’s a high-speed electric scooter that has thus far garnered thousands of requests from prospective consumers.

In December, Yash Arora’s business will begin physical delivery of its electric scooter. The Magnum Pro, priced at Rs 80,999 (ex-showroom), is an “upgrade” on their low-speed Magnum line.

The Magnum Pro comes with dual batteries, two chargers, and a charging period of under three hours, giving riders a “real range of 160 km” from its 3.2 kWh lithium-ion (NMC) battery pack. Meanwhile, a 2.4 KW BLDC (brushless DC) hub motor powers the e-scooter. AIS 156 is a government-mandated standard for the safety of an electric vehicle’s electric powertrain and rechargeable electric energy storage system.

Kyte Energy began developing the Magnum Pro about 18 months ago. The comprehensive testing took six to eight months, and the finished car is ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology) approved.

ICAT is a certification body approved by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to provide testing and certification services to vehicle and component manufacturers in India and throughout the world.

According to Yash, all of the components of the Magnum Pro are built in India, with the apparent exception of lithium ion batteries, which are currently manufactured by no enterprise in India. All of these components are built in the Nashik-based startup’s manufacturing plant.

In the long run, the Magnum Pro e-scooter is a watershed event in Yash’s EV journey since quitting his work as a mechanical engineer with a UK-based firm in June 2018. Lucky for the trio, Yash was born into a family with a long history in the motor sector. His father not only sells four-wheeler replacement parts and accessories, but he also owns two lead battery manufacturing factories. Apart from this benefit, Yash had the choice of not leaving his birthplace of Nashik to launch an e-mobility firm in Bangalore, Delhi, or Mumbai
