HEALTH: EKITI GOVERNMENT OFFSETS MEDICAL BILLS OF 120 INDIGENT CITIZENS

The Ekiti State Government has offset medical bills of no fewer than 120 people solicited financial assistance to undergo treatment for different medical conditions.

Disbursing cheques to beneficiaries of the intervention fund, the Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji disclosed that the bill was for Health challenges ranging from cancer, eye treatment, kidney diseases, complications of hypertension and diabetes as well as some birth defects, among others.

The Wife of the Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani expressed joy and relief that families of the beneficiaries are getting support and reprieve from the hardship occasioned by these health challenges.

Dr Oyebanji reiterated the commitment of the present administration to prioritizing the wellbeing of Ekiti residents as well as sustenance of social investment programmes that would continue to bring succour to the vulnerable segments of the society especially orphans, widows and people living with disabilities (PLWD).

“Our dedication to ensuring Universal Health Coverage in Ekti State remains unwavering. We would continue the high drive for continuous Quality Improvement in matters of healthcare delivery such that Ekiti poeple can be assured of the humane delivery satisfactory preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare irrespective of location, status or other realities,” Mrs Oyebanji assured.

She added that this disbursement has brought the number of beneficiaries to 154 people within ten months.

In their remarks, the Chairperson House of Assembly Committee on Health and HIV AIDS Hon. Dr Abimbola Solanke and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun urged the beneficiaries cooperate with their care givers, complying with treatment outlines as well as remaining optimistic of getting better.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Rev. Joshua Dada appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his Wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji for their positive impacts in the last one year and also wished him a successful tenure in office.
