Stage Theatre is coming back to life – Yinka Quadri Assures

…actress Toyosi advises upcoming artists to remain focused, build potential

In commemoration of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, EKSU, 7th Annual Induction Ceremony, Popular Veteran Actor, Alhaji Olayinka Quadri has said that, despite the proliferation of the new media and conventional media, Theatre art still maintains relevance, noting that “the stage is coming back to live”.

The Actor made this known today through his Media Personnel, Kazeem Adegboyega, during an interactive session with Roundoffnews at the State University.

Roundoffnews gathered that, the Programme, tagged “Redemption”, is a way of welcoming newly admitted students into the department, which is part of the foundational effort to promote Theatre Art.

Olayinka said, “Theatre is the builder of the nation; in fact, almost all the happenings in the society have been performed on theatre. The theatre has been in existence for many decades, and it has been useful since then up till now. It would impress you to know that the Department of Theatre Arts across the Nation has really impacted in this regards”

Commenting on the measures that have been put in place to improve the welfare of Yoruba Artists precisely, Alhaji Olayinka said, “In terms of casualties like sicknesses and the rest, the Theater Body has really done a lot to invest in that aspect. In this regards, if there’s anything that has to do with casualties, the Body is responsible for handling such a situation.”

Subsequently, he mentioned that the Theatre and Media Industry need finance to effect the required growth, revealing that the Government has been supportive; however, he called for more financial support, arguing that a lot is yet to be done.

Speaking with another Popular Actress, Mrs Toyosi Adesanya, she said, the programme is part of the efforts geared towards resurfacing Theatre Art.

In her words, “I can say that there would be a significant growth in professionalism in the Theatre Industry, increase in stage actors the sky is the beginning for us.

“In the entertainment world, we are bringing the stage back to life and with education to back it up; we are making it in this generation.”

She also advised the upcoming artists to remain focused and build more on their potentials, to be proactive, and never cease to practice, as they would become perfect if they do not relent.

According to one of the participants, Oluwatoyin Sekunolami, she commended the induction, saying that, it would give the upcoming artists advantage in the theatre world.
