Hayley Atwell denies dating her Mission: Impossible co-star Tom Cruise

Hayley Atwell finally had her say about dating her Mission: Impossible co-star Tom Cruise.

The actress, in an interview with the Independent, told on Saturday that she thinks of him and director Chris McQuarrie as “sort of two uncles” rather than love interests.

The 41-year-old actress admitted over the weekend that the “weird [romance] rumors” felt “dirty” and “grubby.”

She said,

 “It’s not what I’m about. … Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?”

Hayley who is engaged to composer Ned Wolfgang since April slammed the false rumors and called them upsetting and invasive because “it’s involving people in my actual life, my personal life, who have to be on the receiving end of that.”

The Agent Carter star also got lucky as Cruise advised her to ignore the rumors.

She recalled,

“When I’ve talked to him about it, he’d be like, ‘You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re about. And that is the only thing that matters. It doesn’t matter what people think of you, if you are in integrity with yourself, if you know what your value system is,’”

How did Atwell and Cruise’s dating rumors start?

Atwell and the 61-year-old Hollywood legend first sparked dating rumors in late 2020 when an insider reported to The Sun that the stars “hit it off from day one” filming “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.”

Despite the chatter, the co-stars kept a low profile. However, they fueled the romance when they attended the Wimbledon finals together in July of the next year.

Fans started speculating again when they came together to promote Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part Two over the last few months.

The Captain America actress even gushed in June about how Cruise surprised her grandmom with a ride in a “helicopter on Christmas Eve and … a tour of London.”

She told ET last month,

“I didn’t tell her it was coming, because I knew that she wouldn’t — there’s no way she would get into a helicopter,”

The actress revealed that her granny had the most wonderful time with the charming and kind actor.

Two months ago, Atwell got engaged during a vacation in Venice. Cruise, for his part, found himself engulfed in romance rumors with pop star Shakira.

In May, he was spotted hanging with the songstress at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami where a source revealed that he was really interested in pursuing her.

The Top Gun star shares a 17-year-old daughter, Suri with his ex-wife Katie Holmes. The pair were married from 2006 to 2012.
