Titania Davenport accused Houston Bowling of wrongful death after her son was killed

Titania Davenport has filed a lawsuit against the owner of Bowling Alley venue where her rapper son, Takeoff was fatally killed last year.

Takeoff was shot and died on November 1, 2022, at roughly 2:30 a.m. at 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston over a game of dice. He was just 28.

According to a report obtained by Rolling Stone, the rapper’s mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the proprietors of the Houston venue at Harris County District Court in Texas.

She claimed that the defendants failed to provide enough security on the night Takeoff died, when they knew about criminal activity “on their premises and in the surrounding area” prior to the shooting and did nothing to stop it.

The suit alleges,

“Despite these facts, defendants provided no screening mechanisms, no after–hour controls or security measures, and no enforcement of rules or industry standards to deter crime against their invitees.”

As per Harris County District Court, Davenport is seeking over $1 million from the bowling alley in damages that include funeral expenses, as well as lost earning capacity and emotional suffering.

What had actually happened on the day that Takeoff died?

Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, attended the private party alongside his band “Migos” member, Quavo.

After the party, he and Quavo were playing dice when “one group of attendees began verbally, physically, and openly causing trouble and attempting to intimidate,” according to the lawsuit.

This led to gunfire as a result the Atlanta rapper was shot in the head and torso. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Houston police, Takeoff was “an innocent bystander” who was “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.

Similarly, the two other people on the premises were shot and taken to hospital while Quavo was unharmed.

In connection with the shooting, Police arrested two people Patrick Clark, 33, and Cameron Joshua. Patrick was charged with murder while Cameron was arrested on a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon.
