The Louisiana Mississippi Saltwater Wedge Is A Slow-Motion Disaster: Climate Change

It is anticipated that a substantial amount of rainfall in the Upper Midwest will be required to effectively resolve the ongoing crisis, although this may not occur for several months. Presently, the flow rate of the Mississippi River stands at approximately 150,000 cubic feet per second, which is only half of the volume deemed necessary by authorities to successfully displace the salt water back into the Gulf. Projections for the Mississippi and Ohio River watersheds indicate an expected precipitation of approximately one inch.
