Meghan Trainor-Takin' It Back

Tags: song trainor love

Pop singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor, official name - Meghan Elizabeth Trainor, birthplace was Nantucket, Massachusetts, December 22, 1993. Growing up, she developed a love for music at the young age of seven, and by the age of 11, she composed her first Song. She attended Nauset High School on Cape Cod; there she sang, played the trumpet and studied guitar, taking lessons from Johnny Spampinato, a noted guitarist with NRBQ and the Incredible Casuals. She attended Nauset High School on Cape Cod. She took the Performance Program, a unique five-week course offered by the Berklee College of Music, in 2009 and 2010, earning top grades and making it to the competition's finals.

She launched a solo career, landing a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music ;writing songs for the likes of Sia and Sabrina Carpenter. Signing a deal with Epic Records, she entered pop stardom with the catchy anthem "All About That Bass," which led to her 2015 debut LP, Title. The doo-wop-inspired tune soon soared the ranks and eventually reached No. 1, where it remained for several weeks. The song instantly struck a chord with millions of people all over the world. The RIAA awarded the catchy single a diamond certification for selling 10 million copies in the United States alone. The highest certification a song or album can receive is a diamond, unless it goes multi-diamond, which only occurs if it sells 20 million copies.

,In the very beginning of my career, I saw this happening and would complain to the editors, "You do realize what my song says, right?" Recently, I saw a picture and was convinced it was photoshopped, so I made my label send me the original picture. Turns out it wasn’t and it was just a coloring thing, but I am always on top of that stuff.

The LP debuted at No. 1 and along with two other top hits: "All About That Bass" (No. 1) (mentioned earlier), "Lips Are Movin'" (No. 3), and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" (No. 8).

Thank You, Meghan's sophomore album, was released in 2016 and was preceded by the number-one song "No." The song "No" is an epic response to people who persistently pursue you after you've made it clear that you aren't interested by asking for your name, phone number, and sign. The song's lyrics, such as "If I want a man, then I'mma get a man / but it's never my priority / I was in my zone / before you came along," serve as a reminder that you have everything going for you, whether or not you're dating. What about the music? It is extremely catchy, much in the same way as the Pussycat Dolls' "I Don't Need a Guy" and other power-pop tunes were.

,Trainor channeled that energy into the song-'No'.
,L.A. is famous for this, he will always sit down the artist at the very end and say you don’t have a single,” she says with a laugh. “He didn’t do this with my first one [2015’s ,Title,] because I came in with ‘All About That Bass,’ but on this one he did. I told him I’m not going to write ‘All About That Bass’ 2.0. — I’m not going to give you another one of those. He was like, ‘I’m not asking for that, I promise, but I know you as a songwriter can do better and I know if I push you, you will do better.’

Top 20 singles "Me Too" and the reggae-influenced "Better" helped the album get noticed; the former peaked at #3 on the Hot 100. At the 58th Grammy Awards, Trainor earned her first GRAMMY of her career for Best New Artist. She was nominated for Record and Song of the Year awards the same year, 2016, for "All About That Bass." Trainor released the single "I'm A Woman" for the film "The Smurfs: The Lost Village" while keeping a very low profile in 2017. Trainor had vocal surgery during the year, so she needed some time to heal before going back on stage. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, She decided to undergo surgery before appearing on the show after three months of vocal rest. She took the risk despite the fact that she was recovering.

At the beginning of 2018, she began her comeback, releasing the track "No Excuses" in promotion of her third record, which was originally slated for release in 2019, but pushed back to January 2020. The song "No Excuses" had undertones of country music, but she has largely dominated the pop genre, which is noncontroversial and suitable for all ages. "No Excuses" has the potential to be another huge hit for the singer and is well suited to be the kind of tune that anybody can support.

,I watch a lot of Dr. Phil, and I recently watched one that was like, this guy came on the stage and said, “Yeah I choked out my wife because I really love her and was showing her in the mirror of me choking her.” And he thought that was okay, and Dr. Phil’s like, “What part of your brain was like this is a go ,od decision?” He’s like, “It wasn’t a good decision.” He’s like, “Then why’d you do it?” And he tried to go on Dr. Phil on live television and explain himself.
,There’s so many levels of that all over the place, even with just communication, and I see it all the time. And You wanna say, “It’s 2018, guys. We have all the amazing Instagram quotes online. Be nicer to each other.” And it’s just sad that it’s always gonna be a struggle. And it’s always gonna be a problem.

,I’ve been writing my album, ‘Treat Myself,’ for like three years now and I kept writing like my favorite, the next single, the biggest song every session. Every song I have was like, we got to beat the last one. I’ve done enough self love empowering songs, which is like my thing. This is what I do. I love that. And my fans tend to love that too. On this day, I went into the session with Scott Harrison and Ojivolta and I was meeting all of them for the first time. And I told them like, yo, you know how I’ve been writing empowering woman anthem songs? I want to do that but for everybody and I want it to be a cool different beat that you haven’t heard Meghan Trainor on yet. I wanted it to be like nineties, but also modern and hit you in the gut when it drops

With contributions from Mike Sabath, Ojivolta, Lennon Stella, Nicki Minaj, The Pussycat Dolls, and Sasha Alex Sloan, among others, the finished "Treat Myself" was released January 31, 2020. The album also contained the single "No Excuses," as well as the promotional songs "Genetics," "Workin' on It" with Lennon Stella and Sasha Sloan, and "Nice to Meet You."

"Nice to Meet Ya" music video, which was made by Matthew Cullen, Meghan Trainor and Nicki Minaj take over the office. The video was inspired by one of Trainor's favorite films, Working Girl, which she wrote the treatment for.

"You don't know the half of the filth that I've said/Go ahead and tell them everything you heard," sings Trainor while dancing about with other office gals. "You know ain't nobody perfect/I appear different on the surface."

The Working Girl. "You don't know the half of the filth that I've said/Go ahead and tell them everything you heard," sings Trainor while dancing about with other office gals. "You know ain't nobody perfect/I appear different on the surface." She is later joined by Nicki in a golden elevator, who raps, "I pop off because I am the reigning champ/Please no comparisons because you know they can't/Had to mow the grass because there were snakes in the camp/They know I'm the billy, I be smiling."

,I love collaborating with other artists and it gives me an excuse to have my dreams come true. So every single song, my mom and my family and I were, “Oh my God, you know who’d be crazy on this track? Sam Smith,” or, we’ll have our biggest dreams and we’re, “This one would be so cool if we had Nicki Minaj on it.” And I just found out that my management just started managing her. And I was, “I mean, I have an in. I technically have an in.” So I said, “Do you think she would even listen to this or like this?” And they said, “We’ll see.” And they sent it to her and she liked it and she recorded a verse on it. And I was just trying not to get excited the whole time. And then it actually was real and I was, “Aw, man, I can’t believe this is a real thing.”

Meghan's second EP, "The Love Train," Released February 12, 2021, totaled nine songs; "All The Ways", "Marry Me", "I'm down", "After You", "Foolish", "Goodmornin'" (ft Gary Trainor), "Throwback Love" and "Goosebumps", and "After You" . A year after, "A Very Trainor Christmas" album, released October 29, 2021, had Christmas classics with six brand-new original songs, including the already-out "I'll Be Home" and "My Kind of Gift." Mistletoe is strung from the disco ball in "Holidays" [ft. Earth, Wind & Fire] as funky horns and a frenetic beat echo throughout Christmas Eve and into Christmas morning. While "Christmas Got Me Blue" gets the lonesome hearts dancing, "Christmas Party" draws the entire family together.

Notwithstanding, the holidays wouldn't be the same without friends and family., While Meghan sings "White Christmas" with Seth MacFarlane by her side, the Toney cousins, Jayden, Jenna, and Marcus, perform "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" . The most emotional moment of all is marked by dad Gary Trainor's guests.

Remind Me

,I tried to do the doo wop feel I had at the beginning of my career, but the 2022 version of it. This is from the new Meghan who is a wife and mom with a baby,” she said in a statement. Meghan continued, “This is from me right now. I decided to give the people what they want, but with my spices added to it. I wanted to make my Title 2.0.
,(In an interview with Rolling Stone) It’s called Takin’ It Back. Why is that?
,I knew before I wrote that song that it’d be called “Takin’ It Back.” I got with Mozella, who wrote [Miley Cyrus’] “Wrecking Ball.” And she said, “You know what’s crazy? All these artists and songwriters coming in are like, ‘I want to do the Meghan Trainor sound.’ ” And I was like, “What the fuck? I have a sound? Do they mean the doo-wop stuff?” And they’re like, “Yeah.” And I was like, “Oh, dur! I could do that in my sleep.” Like, that’s easy. So I was like, ‘Let’s do that.” And then we did “Don’t I Make It Look Easy.” I heard that and I got that exciting feeling that I haven’t got since “Dear Future Husband” of “Oh, wow, people are gonna love this.” I wanted to “take it back” to that first sound that I had. And that song “Takin It Back” is about taking it back to the good music when they had real instruments.

For the singer, circumstances have drastically changed. She gave birth to Riley, a boy, in 2021 while dating actor Daryl Sabara. Trainor maintains her spot as a pop star in the music industry, after going viral her lead single "Made You Look," which is presently in about two million videos on TikTok. Other tracks on Takin' it Back, include "Don't I Make it Look Easy," "Lucky," "Superwoman," and "Mama Want Mambo," successfully recreating the charm of Trainor's initial album.

,(In an interview with Rolling Stone) ,“Don’t I Make It Look Easy”
,“This song is about me feeling like an overwhelmed, boss-lady, bad-bitch mom, who has mom guilt. [I’m] constantly being interviewed and told ‘You are so happy and confident. You do it all’ — but I cry a lot. So I’m like, ‘Is that what I show on Instagram and social media because that’s wonderful?’ Because that’s not what it is all the time… I’m fooling you. Everyone posts only the good stuff, but try not to compare yourself, because they’re not posting the bad shit.
,“As a famous person, it’s tough to even talk about any of the bad times because no one wants to hear it. When I became a mother, that same kind of ‘Don’t bitch, because this is wants to hear it. When I became a mother, that same kind of ‘Don’t bitch, because this is what you always wanted. Don’t complain. Everything should be perfect. Just appear happy’… Even though it’s really, really hard. I thought that was relatable to everyone. My big thing nowadays is to talk about my feelings and not stuff them down and pretend like they’re not there.”

Without a doubt, "Made You Look" is among the album's best tunes. It is a happy tune that is cheerful, catchy, danceable, and all around upbeat. The song has a 1960s feel to it. It is a song that sounds familiar and is enjoyable to listen to due to its effect on the drumming, extensive use of horns, and backup vocals.

,(In an interview with Rolling Stone) “Mama Wanna Mambo” ft. Natti Natasha & Arturo Sandoval
,“We were looking at genres that were big in the Fifties. I grew up with a Trinidadian uncle, so we were listening to calypso. We were listening to the song ‘Papa Loves Mambo’ [by Perry Como] and I was like, ‘Yeah, but mama wants a mambo.’ I just compared it to dancing and going out and having fun. I was like, ‘God, I don’t remember the last time I did that.’ I bet every mom feels like that. I just want to escape and have a crazy wild night.

The bass-heavy, catchy tune single "Shook" features a memorable slow vibe that throws the listener into a loop. Trainor excels at writing music that inspires self-assurance, self-love, and general joy. The second slow song on the album is "Bad For Me," which is found on track 6, has a fair amount of popularity but is similar to her song "After You" from her album "TREAT MYSELF".

"Made You Look" lyrics from Lyricfind.com

I could have my Gucci on

I could wear my Louis Vuitton

But even with nothin' on

Bet I made you look (I made you look)

I'll make you double take soon as I walk away

Call up your chiropractor just in case your neck break

Ooh, tell me what you, what you, what you gon' do, ooh

'Cause I'm 'bout to make a scene, double up that sunscreen

I'm 'bout to turn the heat up, gonna make your glasses steam

Ooh, tell me what you, what you, what you gon' do, ooh

When I do my walk, walk (oh)

I can guarantee your jaw will drop, drop (oh)

'Cause they don't make a lot of what I got, got (ah, ah)

Ladies if you feel me, this your bop, bop (bop-bop-bop)

I could have my Gucci on (Gucci on)

I could wear my Louis Vuitton

But even with nothin' on

Bet I made you look (I made you look)

Yeah, I look good in my Versace dress (take it off)

But I'm hotter when my morning hair's a mess

'Cause even with my hoodie on

Bet I made you look (I made you look)

Mhm-hm-hm

And once you get a taste (woo), you'll never be the same

This ain't that ordinary, this that 14 karat cake

Ooh, tell me what you, what you, what you gon' do, ooh (what you gon' do, ooh, ooh)

When I do my walk, walk (oh)

I can guarantee your jaw will drop, drop (oh) (I guarantee your jaw will drop, drop)

'Cause they don't make a lot of what I got, got (ah, ah)

Ladies if you feel me, this your bop, bop (bop-bop-bop)

Oh, I could have my Gucci on (Gucci on)

I could wear my Louis Vuitton

But even with nothin' on

Bet I made you look (said, I made you look)

Yeah, I look good in my Versace dress (take it off, baby)

But I'm hotter when my morning hair's a mess

'Cause even with my hoodie on

Bet I made you look (said, I made you look)
