Fun Earth Day Activity To Do With Kids – DIY Terrarium

Today is Earth Day! A popular Earth Day activity is planting a tree – to show you care and want to give back to Mother Earth.

This Earth Day 2021 , make a difference by creating your own glass terrarium – DIY terrarium with your kids. This would be a fun Earth day activity for kids and they will learn the basics of planting and home gardening.

For this Earth Day activity you need:

1. A small glass jar or a goldfish bowl

2. Gravel or some small stones from your backyard

3. Potting Mix or soil

4. Succulents or any terrarium plants

5. Decorative elements like shells, colorful rocks, miniatures of insects, or animals.

Start by adding some gravel at the bottom of your glass jar. Now transfer the potting mix. Fill up almost half of the jar. Take a small spoon a make a little pit on the mix. Now slowly pull the succulents from their nursing pots with roots. Prune the long roots, shake off the extra soil, and put it in the pit you made in the jar with potting mix. Now add more mix with the help of a spoon and let the plants feel at home. Add some white stones and decorative elements around the plants. 2 tablespoons of water weekly is enough for 1 succulent.

Succulent plants have a unique adaptation that enables them to tolerate less watering better than most other home plants. Succulents can be a perfect plant a tree – Earth day activity for your kids.
