Aircraft Painter
JOB SUMMARY:
The Aircraft Painter and Preparation performs aircraft painting activities in accordance with Manufactures Manuals, Approved Data and the requirements set forth by the Company.The Aircraft Painter is proficient in applying paint or coatings to interior and exterior of assembled aircraft.  The ideal candidate shall have experience operating, maintaining, and cleaning electrostatic paint guns; be able to read and follow blueprint directions; understand aircraft components, understand the production process, and perform all tasks required for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Aircraft Painter shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following job tasks:
Production:
  • Prepare aircraft surfaces for paint by cleaning, stripping, and abrading existing coatings and removing corrosion
  • Prime and paint aircraft structures, parts, components, etc., using a variety of methods (brush, roller, gun, etc.)
  • Paint Aircraft according to specifications and apply required markings, including stripes and multi-tone surfaces
  • Inspect cosmetic appearance
  • Interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals, while also understanding symbols, flags, and general notes
  • Determine the proper corrective actions required to rectify discrepancies when required;
  • Document maintenance actions in accordance with Company Policies & Procedures and Customer’s Manuals as required;
  • Complete a variety of forms, tags and documents in accordance with Company Policies & Procedures and Customer’s Manuals as required;
  • Estimate the time required to complete NRC’s and coordinate with the Project and Trade Supervisors to ensure that the labor requirements for all trades have been accounted for;
  • Identify and raise Purchase Requests;
  • Work in close coordination with the Project and Trade Supervisors to ensure that the work is performed within the scheduled timeframe;
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to technicians. Coaching & training;
  • Route to quarantine unserviceable, time expired or rejected parts and products pending disposition;
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Company quality standards, policies & procedures and Regulatory Authority requirements (TC, FAA, etc.).
  • Report any quality issues to the Production Manager and Quality Department;
  • Perform any other duties within the company to support operational requirements.
Qualifications and Physical Demands:
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Capacity to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
  • Capable of solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to work with a respirator
  • Ability to use tools, equipment, and materials in the aircraft paint stripping process and paint preparation process
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, perform close tolerance work, work in small spaces lift up to 50 pounds and work any shift
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance
  • Ability to perform work at heights up to 50 feet
  • The employee is frequently required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Working in small restricted areas are also required.
  • Expected to execute duties in all weather conditions and environments.
Preferred Experience:
  • Completion of high school;
  • Completion of specialized training courses is desirable;
  • Minimum of three (3) years actual and recent experience in the preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces;
Wage:
  • $15.00 to $26.00 per hour based on experience

Quality Assurance Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Manager’s responsibilities are those of exercising quality assurance of airworthiness matters in the maintenance function. He shall meet all standards of competency of CAR 573.03. The QAM is also responsible for the Safety Management System.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Assurance Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following job tasks:
Quality Assurance:
  • Directly responsible for the Quality Assurance Program as assigned by the Accountable Executive and Person Responsible for Maintenance in accordance with CAR’s 573.04;
  • Ensure that all applicable technical data is available for the work that is to be performed an that the company technical and regulatory library publications are current;
  • Establish the Quality audit schedule and coordinate the audits with the Quality Assurance Auditors;
  • Liaise with Transport Canada;
  • Ensure rules and regulations are adhered to and maintained;
  • Review CAR’s amendment and revise MPM as required;
  • Maintain the Quality Assurance and Audit Program;
  • Ensure that personnel qualifications and training records are maintained and current;
  • Maintain and revise the Maintenance Policy Manual, Manufacturing Policy Manual and Manuals Incorporated by Reference, as required;
  • Monitor maintenance activities and ensure the Company policies and procedures are adhered to;
  • Actively promote continuous improvements;
  • Improve quality standards and implement corrective actions with the help of the Person Responsible for Maintenance and the Accountable Executive;
  • Responsible for reporting of Service Difficulty Reports (SDR);
  • For temporary leaves of absence, up to 30 days, the QAM will assume the responsibilities of PRM;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the DOM.
Safety Management System:
  • Establish and maintain a reporting system to ensure the timely collection of information related to hazards;
  • Identify hazards and carry out risk management analyses of those hazards, incidents and accidents that may adversely affect safety;
  • Investigate, analyze and identify the root cause or probable cause of all hazards, incidents and accidents identified under the Safety Management System (SMS);
  • Establish and maintain a safety data system, by either electronic or other means, to monitor and analyze trends in hazards, incident and accidents;
  • Monitor and evaluate the results of corrective actions with respect to hazards, incidents and accidents;
  • Monitor the concerns of the civil aviation industry in respect of safety and their possible / perceived effect on the AMO;
  • Ensure procedures are followed and actively promote continuous improvements;
  • Determine the adequacy of the training required by CAR’s;
  • Report to the DOM any hazards, incidents and accidents, identified under the SMS required under section 573.30 or as a result of an audit required by CAR 573.31;
General Administrative & Management
  • Mange the QA Auditor, Quality Control Inspectors and the Technical Records Department;
  • Ensure technical records meet with CAR as well as with client specifications;
  • Manage, design, review and implement training programs;
  • Prepare and assist Management in gathering information and preparing presentations;
  • Attend key meetings / reviews with Management, staff and / or clients;
  • Demonstrate leadership, project management skills and commitment to teamwork;
  • Support, mentor and coach to promote continuous improvement;
Personnel / Human Resources
  • Conduct performance evaluations;
  • Monitor employee performance and attendance and take the necessary steps to correct non-conformances;
  • Inform the DOM of any personnel problems / issues;
  • Assist / provide feedback to the DOM on employee evaluations;
  • Ensure a progressive approach to establishing and maintaining a positive attitude towards discipline;
  • Ensure employees adhere to established Company Policies;
  • Review & process administrative documents (vacation requests, bank time, etc.);
  • Interview / hire personnel (Permanent, Part Time, Contract, etc.) in conjunction with Human Resources and the DOM;
  • Perform employee coaching sessions;
  • Ensure personnel adhere to the Employee Conduct Agreement;
  • Ensure employees adhere to Employee Handbook;
Requirements:
  • University degree in a technical, quality or project management discipline or Aircraft Maintenance Engineering diploma (or equivalence);
  • Possession of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License “M1 / M2” (preferred);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Assurance Manager or equivalent position;
  • Sound understanding of the techniques, processes and control of delivered quality in the repair and maintenance of fixed wing aircraft;
  • Ability to establish and communicate clear priorities and to influence others to support and act on those priorities;
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines;
  • Committed to Continuous Improvement;
  • Experience in team management (performance evaluation, disciplinary process, etc.);
  • Experience in quality management;
  • Excellent ability to multitask & handle changing priorities under pressure;
  • A mature approach to work by taking ownership and responsibility if stressful situations should arise;
