Al-Jazira State joined the war on December 15, with the Rapid Support Forces taking control of Wad Madani after battles with an army force that lasted about 4 days, after which the army announced the withdrawal of its forces.

On a related level, the Sudanese newspaper Al-Ahdath said, citing sources, that this January, the Bahraini capital witnessed 3 secret meetings between the Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din al-Kabashi, and the Second Commander of the Rapid Support, Abdul Rahim Dagalo, under Egyptian-Emirati sponsorship.

The newspaper added that Algeria entered as a new player in the line of initiatives, with the arrival of a delegation to Port Sudan carrying proposals to host negotiations between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Since mid-April, the army and the Rapid Support have been waging a war that has left more than 13,000 dead and more than 7 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
