Serious complications

The association warned that inflammation of the arm veins may take a severe course and lead to serious complications such as deep vein thrombosis or blood poisoning (sepsis), which threatens life.

To avoid these serious risks, a doctor should be consulted as soon as symptoms indicating inflammation of the arm veins are noticed, in order to undergo timely treatment, which includes analgesics such as diclofenac or ibuprofen, while raising the arm while sitting or lying down, as this works to return blood to the arm. Cold compresses and compression bandages
