Torture, sabotage, and severe beatings…a remarkable escalation in arrests in the West Bank Hurriyat News

Two Palestinian bodies concerned with prisoner affairs reported that the number of Palestinian detainees from the West Bank in Israeli prisons has risen to 6,195 detainees since last October 7.

The two bodies, the Palestinian Authority for Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs (governmental) and the Prisoners' Club (private), said that this comes after the arrest of 25 Palestinians last night, including former prisoners.

They explained – in a joint statement – that this toll includes those who were arrested from homes and through military checkpoints, “those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage.”

According to the two institutions, the arrests were distributed among the governorates of Jenin, Tulkarm, Qalqilya, and Nablus (north), Ramallah and Jerusalem (center), Hebron (south), and Jericho (east).

According to the statement, the arrest campaigns were accompanied by “massive raids and harassment, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens' homes.”

The two institutions indicated that the data related to arrest cases “includes those who were kept in detention by the occupation, or those who were later released.”

Since the outbreak of the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the Israeli Army has intensified its operations in the West Bank and expanded incursions and raids that resulted in the deaths of dozens and the arrest of thousands.

For 108 days, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which as of yesterday, Sunday, left 25,105 martyrs, 62,681 injured, most of them children and women, massive destruction, and an unprecedented humanitarian and health disaster.
