Bayern Munich loses at home and moves away from the top of the German League | sports

Bayern Munich suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Werder Bremen on Sunday, thanks to a goal by Mitchell Weiser, and fell 7 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the fight for the German Football League title.

This is Werder's first win in Munich since 2008 and Bayern's second loss in the league this season.

Bayern failed to score any goal during a home league match for the first time since February 2020, ending a series of 65 consecutive matches that included scoring at least a goal in their home stadium in every match.

With this result, Bayern's balance froze at 41 points in second place, with a game in hand.

Leverkusen has 48 points after its 3-2 last-gasp victory over RB Leipzig yesterday, Saturday, and Stuttgart is in third place with 34 points.

The home team, which will face Union Berlin in its postponed league match next Wednesday, seemed far from ready after a short training camp in Portugal earlier last week.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel said: “It was a well-deserved victory for Bremen. For 70 minutes, we did not play as a team that wants to win and compete for the title.”

He added: “We only did that for 20 minutes. We allowed them too many counterattacks, left too much space, and were disorganized. For us, it's a big blow. We need to improve on Wednesday (against Onion).”

Tuchel continued: “This is not enough to achieve our goals. When you sign a contract with Bayern, you sign to provide 100% of your abilities. This is true for the players and the coach, but we did not achieve that today.”

Bayern had possession of the ball; But it was Bremen who scored.

The visiting team scored from a quick attack in the 25th minute, but the goal scored by Justin Ndjimnah was canceled due to an error at the beginning of the attack.

The former Bayern player Weiser did better in the 59th minute, as he raced into the penalty area, then passed Alphonso Davies and fired a thundering shot past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

The home side moved forward in search of an equalizer after that, but it did not have a clear plan and its top scorer, Harry Kane, missed a great opportunity with a header from close range in the 72nd minute.

Bremen goalkeeper Mitchell Zetterer saved Leroy Sane's shot in the 79th minute before clearing the ball, and Kane headed it in shortly afterwards. Thus, the visiting team maintained its major victory in the league this season.

Bayern's substitutes, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Matthijs Tille, had several opportunities; But Zetterer held on, and the away team maintained the win.
