Pakistan bombs sites inside Iran in response to attacks News

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday the implementation of military strikes against anti-Islamabad militants inside Iran, two days after Tehran carried out strikes inside Pakistan.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “This morning, Pakistan carried out a series of precise, highly coordinated military strikes specifically directed against terrorist hideouts in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan,” referring to the Balochistan Liberation Army armed group inside Iran.

Al Jazeera's correspondent quoted Pakistani sources as saying that the strikes hit 6 targets within 3 locations at a depth of 40 to 50 kilometers inside Iranian territory.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry statement stated that a number of “terrorists” were killed during the operation, which was based on intelligence information.

On the other hand, Iranian official media said that the Pakistani attack resulted in the killing of at least 3 women and 4 children, all of them non-Iranians.

Pakistan had issued a warning to Iran of “serious consequences” after Iran announced that it had targeted it with “missiles and drones”, which it said were the headquarters of the “Jaish al-Adl” armed group in Pakistani territory.

Iranian strikes inside Pakistan resulted in the destruction of two bases used by the “Army of Justice” group, according to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, while Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that the attack “led to the death of two innocent children and the injury of three girls.”

The Jaish al-Adl group previously claimed responsibility for several attacks in southeastern Iran. Both the United States and Iran classify the group as a “terrorist organization.”
