The milkman is trundling back – thanks to eco-aware millennials who like the Reusable Glass Bottles and busy mums avoiding queuing at shops on their school runs.
Some 2,000 homes a week are signing up to have milk delivered, reversing the clamour to buy cheaper, longer-lasting milk in cartons in supermarkets.
Milk & More, which makes 500,000 doorstep deliveries, says it is adding 1,000 new customers a week. Nationwide, the figure is thought to be double that.
Yet buying milk from the milkman costs £1.71 per litre compared to 78p in shops, say analysts Kantar Worldpanel.

Milk & More went online in 2018, ending the tradition of leaving a note in an empty bottle for an extra pinta.
Totally Welsh, which delivers to 7,000 homes around Cardiff, adds that business is expanding.
‘Customers also order bulky items such as washing powders, bird seed and bags of compost,’ says general manager John Horsman.
