Jonathan Goodwin, fiancé of Strictly star Amanda Abbington, files lawsuit against America’s Got Talent executives after television stunt gone awry results in permanent wheelchair confinement

Amanda Abbington’s fiancé, Jonathan Goodwin, is suing the bosses of America’s Got Talent over a failed stunt that left him paralyzed. The incident occurred in October 2021 during rehearsals for America’s Got Talent: Extreme at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The stunt was intended for Goodwin to free himself and fall beneath two burning cars before they collided. However, he miscalculated the timing and became trapped between the vehicles, resulting in severe injuries. Goodwin suffered fractures to his ribs, legs, and shoulders, third-degree burns, internal organ injuries, and the loss of his left kidney. Following the accident, production for the show was temporarily suspended. Goodwin’s lawyer, Stuart Fraenkel, criticized the show’s producers and staff for neglecting safety precautions. Goodwin hopes that his lawsuit will bring attention to the lack of safety measures in the entertainment industry. Despite the challenges, Goodwin remains engaged to actress Amanda Abbington, and they continue to support each other through this difficult time.
