Individual Obsessed with Guns Found Guilty of Plotting a Massacre Similar to Dunblane, Targeting School Bullies and Police, Armed with a Collection of Homemade Firearms Constructed in His Shed

A man obsessed with guns has been found guilty of planning a massacre similar to the Dunblane school shooting in 1996. Reed Wischhusen, a Lidl employee, was shot by police when he charged at them with a pistol at his home in Wick St Lawrence. Upon searching his house, authorities discovered a cache of firearms, explosives, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, as well as a disturbing document outlining his revenge plan. His targets included primary school bullies, disliked teachers, and police staff who had denied him a firearms license. Wischhusen intended to disguise himself and carry out multiple attacks in the West Country, including his former primary school and the Avon and Somerset Police headquarters. Police were alerted to Wischhusen’s activities after receiving information about him modifying blank firearms into lethal weapons. When confronted by officers, he attempted to take his own life before emerging with a pistol and charging at them. Following a trial, Wischhusen was convicted of weapons offenses, including possessing explosive substances and firearms with intent to endanger life. In his defense, he claimed to be a fantasist who never intended to use the guns. He will be sentenced on December 15th.
