GOP Congressman Michael McCaul Disagrees with Benjamin Netanyahu, Claims Egypt Provided Advance Warning to Israel Before Hamas Terror Attack

A Texas Congressman and Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee stated on Wednesday that Egypt had warned Israel about Hamas’ surprise attack prior to the assault that has resulted in a minimum of 1,200 deaths. Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican, confirmed what Egyptian intelligence had previously stated, contradicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. McCaul revealed that Egypt had warned Israel three days before the attack and that the attack had been planned for about a year. Netanyahu’s office denied these reports, calling them “fake news.” It was also mentioned that Israeli security agencies, who share intelligence with Israel, had misread the situation. An Egyptian intelligence official claimed that Egypt had been in communication with Israel about “something big,” but Israeli officials had downplayed the threat. McCaul, when asked about his sources, stated that the intelligence existed. Israel’s intelligence agencies, which have had a strong reputation for their achievements, are now facing doubt and questions about their readiness due to their failure to anticipate the recent attack. Hamas militants continue to fight Israeli forces inside Israeli territory, and numerous Israelis are being held captive by Hamas in Gaza. US President Joe Biden expressed shock at the brutality of the Hamas attack and stated that he had seen photos of “terrorists beheading children.” He also warned Iran, Hamas’ patron, not to interfere.
