British Airways Halts Flights to and from Israel Citing Safety Concerns as Plane Bound for Tel Aviv Diverts Back to London Prior to Landing

British Airways has decided to suspend flights to and from Israel due to safety concerns. This decision comes after a BA flight from London to Israel had to turn back just before reaching Tel Aviv because of security concerns. Flight BA165 had to change course back to Heathrow because of new rocket attacks launched by Hamas. The safety of their passengers is always the highest priority for BA, and after assessing the situation, they have chosen to suspend flights to and from Tel Aviv. They are reaching out to customers who have booked flights to or from Tel Aviv to apologize for any inconvenience and offer options such as a full refund or rebooking with another airline or with British Airways at a later date. BA continues to closely monitor the situation in the region. The airline is joining other international carriers who have already suspended flights to Tel Aviv following the recent attack by Hamas on Israel. Flight BA165 was diverted back to Heathrow after almost reaching Tel Aviv, and the pilot made this decision in response to safety concerns. Other airlines, like easyJet and Wizz Air, have also suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv due to the Hamas attacks, making it challenging for UK citizens to find flights back home from Israel. Virgin Atlantic, however, is still operating flights between Heathrow and Tel Aviv. BA, owned by IAG, initially stated that they would continue to operate some flights while monitoring the situation closely, but they have now decided to suspend all flights to and from Israel. The exact number of UK citizens currently in Israel is unknown, but sources suggest it is relatively low. The Israeli Ministry of Tourism is committed to ensuring the safety and information of all tourists visiting Israel and has set up a hotline via WhatsApp. Hamas has launched a fresh wave of rocket attacks across southern Israel, including a child development center, while Israel has deployed troops along its border in preparation for an invasion. The situation in Gaza is worsening with Israeli airstrikes demolishing Palestinian neighborhoods and hospitals struggling to treat the injured due to limited medical supplies. The Gaza Strip has also lost electricity as the power plant ran out of fuel. The war has resulted in numerous casualties on both sides, and humanitarian groups are calling for the creation of aid corridors in anticipation of an upcoming Israeli assault.
