Parents of critically ill baby Indi Gregory express outrage over ‘death sentence’ High Court hearing as medical professionals plead with judge to permit seven-month-old’s passing

The parents of critically ill baby Indi Gregory expressed their disapproval of a High Court hearing that they deemed a “death sentence” after doctors recommended letting the seven-month-old die. Indi’s father, Dean Gregory, criticized the doctors’ pessimistic outlook and pleaded with Mr. Justice Peel to give his child an opportunity to live. Indi, who suffers from mitochondrial disease like Charlie Gard, has multiple complications, including heart problems. Despite doctors saying that death is the best option, Mr. Gregory disagreed with their assessment and argued for his daughter’s right to life. Last week, Indi was christened in the hospital surrounded by her parents and three older sisters. The specialist doctor who provided testimony expressed sadness over the situation and emphasized the need for compassion and providing as many memories as possible for Indi and her family. Mr. Justice Peel commended Indi’s parents for their unwavering dedication to their daughter. The family is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre, with CEO Andrea Williams stating that Indi should be given every chance to live, respecting and supporting the parents’ wishes.
